Over the last 18 years, Matthew has served in a variety of capacities in non-profit organizations and institutions of higher education. Early in his career, he worked in communications at Life Outreach International, an organization that provides relief assistance in developing countries.

Matthew’s higher education career began at Dallas Baptist University upon completion of his undergraduate degree, as an assistant to both the executive vice president and dean of students. He was then appointed to the assistant director of student recruitment serving both traditional and non-traditional undergraduate, prospective students.

In 2007, he went to work at The University of Texas at Arlington, where he was responsible for facilitating the recruitment, admission, and outreach to students from the DFW and Austin areas.

Upon completing his master’s degree in higher education instruction and U.S./Latin-America History in 2007, he began service at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, where he directed the admissions for the physician assistant program.

In 2009, he joined the team at Dallas Christian College as the director of enrollment management and was later promoted to vice president for enrollment management and communications, providing oversight of the admissions, outreach, marketing, and communications departments. There he served as a mentor to students, taught history courses, and led students on international service trips.

In 2016, Matthew was named the Director of the Texas Medical and Dental Schools Application Service (TMDSAS), the application service for all public medical, dental, and veterinary schools in the State of Texas.

There he led an incredible team of individuals who are passionate about helping pre-health students achieve their dreams of becoming doctors, dentists, and veterinarians.. He also co-chairs the committee for residency rules revisions at the Texas Higher Educational Coordinating Board. He has been featured in podcasts by the Texas Health Education Service and has written a series of articles on how to prepare for professional school.

In early 2020, Matthew was named executive director of the Texas Health Education Service. Here he is charged with developing initiatives to enhance the applicant pool and lead 19 member institutions in admissions-related policy improvements and provide leadership over the Texas Medical, Dental, and Veterinary Schools Application Service and also the Joint Admission Medical Program.

In 2018, Matthew began work towards his doctoral degree at Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College, studying Learning and Organizational Improvement. He hopes to use what he has learned about evidenced-based management to solve emerging organizational challenges.
